Why you need a every positive feedback file.
My boss: Where is my positive feedback file *he queried, fuming with anger*
Me: I can't find it, Sir *I said with a shaky voice*
My boss: You are fired!!!
...and that was how I became jobless.
Back story: My boss gets upset when queried by his bosses and his positive feedback file is like pain killers to his aching confidence which is being threatened.
I would describe a positive feedback file as a collection of approbatory reactions gathered over time and kept in a file, this file could be hard, a mental file, or a soft file. I keep a record of every positive statement I get from people regarding my writing and once in a while I go back to look at them, asides from making me smile it gives me a reason to continue writing.
This file is not exclusive to writers only, anyone can keep a positive feedback file, it doesn’t matter if you are a student. You can get a journal solely for this purpose where you write down compliments you received, date and who said what, for instance;
Cavey said I write beautifully well on the 6th of October 2021.
Here are a few importance of a positive feedback file;
1. It builds up your confidence
2. It makes you happy (obviously )
3. On a bad day, it could be what you need to make you feel better.
4. It inspires you to be better at what you do.
All these work together to better your mental health, remember though, the positive feedback file is part of your past, don't dwell on it, keep going.
Now you know why you need a positive feedback file, are you going to keep one???
