Gen Z: 6 proven ways that can help put your life in order.

I love the movie Encanto, have you seen it yet?

I must confess, improving one’s life is a herculean task, it takes intentionality and consistency to get there, are you willing to offer those to yourself? Be serious fam.
Before you continue reading, I need you to answer a very important question; Do you want to change your life? Go ahead and answer it with confidence, if the answer is a resounding YES, keep reading.
I am not a life connoisseur, I mean I am still figuring this thing called life out plus I don’t think anyone has a life manual hidden somewhere but like you, I have had experiences, experiences that most Gen Zs can relate to. I had to make life-changing decisions to make my life better and I decided to share them with you, if that is something you want to do then you are in the right place.

1. Decide on what you want and where you want to be.

Clichè but we tend to skip this important step. Knowing what you want and where you want to offer you clarity which is one step to achieving your goal. Remember, accidents are more likely to occur when there is a fog. The fog here means your confusion, decide on what you want, you don’t have to know the steps from A-Z, you just need to know what you want then figure out how to get it.

2. Set boundaries for yourself.

We often make the mistake of thinking that setting boundaries is for other people, you have to set boundaries for yourself first. I liken this to driving, when you switch to a lane you shouldn’t be in, you risk being either in an accident or getting in trouble with law enforcement agencies, so set boundaries for yourself. In line with setting boundaries, you have to censor everything and everyone that comes into your life. If they don’t align with your interests, present, and future, let them go. Censor everything down to your social media feeds, there is a reason for your mute/block/delete button, use 'em.

3. Take responsibility.

“Everything may not be your fault, but it is your responsibility” got that one from twitter🙃

Yes, life happens but you get to decide if you want life to happen to you or for you. Wherever you are in life right now, take responsibility for your life, your mistakes, failure, success, etc stop blaming other people for everything that happens in your life, it is YOUR life so you had a part to play no matter how much minuscule it was. Own it!

4. Move with like minds but don’t draw them back.

“Birds of the same feather flock together ” even though it often has a negative connotation to it, it can be applied positively. Move with people you admire, people who have achieved what you are yet to achieve because you are a total of your closest associates. You can do this offline and online on every social media platform, don’t wait for them to come to you, reach out to them, state your case.

An American actress said; always be the learner in the room. She is the heroine in the movie BIRDBOX.

Pro tip: A tag-along eventually gets irritating, build yourself up and make sure you have something valuable to offer to people. Be a member of the board, not a receptionist.

5. Be patient with yourself and draw no comparison.

Whoever said “comparison is the thief of joy” wasn’t lying at all, you have to learn to acknowledge other people’s successes without comparison. Can you use their successes as an inspiration to do better? Yes! But chastising yourself because your colleague made more money this week is plain stupidity and you are not stupid. Be patient with yourself, always remember that every pro was once a beginner and little by little a bird learns to fly, baby steps okay?

6. Prioritize your health.

Not to sound corny but what shall it profit you if you gain every material wealth in the world and your health is in jeopardy? Nothing. As a Gen Z the pressure to make money is higher than ever partly due to what we see on SM platforms but don’t let that define you. The goal is to be healthy and wealthy, with no compromise. So take care of your health, especially your mental health. Go for routine checkups, take care of your teeth and your eyes, leave social media for some time and enjoy nature, smile, drink water🙃 live life. There is more to life than social media.

See eh😇 no one said it will be easy o but we can not come and kill ourselves, so take care of yourself. I dey with you🤜
